About Us

Freedom Hearing Aid Center is a premier hearing healthcare office located in Culpeper, VA, serving the surrounding areas since 2024. We specialize in providing top-notch hearing aid evaluations, exams, and repairs to help our customers regain their freedom of hearing. In addition to a wide range of hearing aids and accessories, we offer personalized services to cater to each individual's unique needs. Our expert team is dedicated to ensuring your complete satisfaction with our products and services.

Freda White, owner of Freedom Hearing Aid Center and hearing aid specialist, is local to Culpeper and the surrounding counties.

Freda graduated from Mary Washington College, raised 4 wonderful children and then in 2008 she embarked upon a career in the hearing healthcare industry.

Freda has 16 years of experience, primarily all of them in Culpeper and the surrounding counties. She is dedicated to empowering her patients and the public with greater knowledge and education around hearing healthcare.

In addition to her 4 wonderful children, Freda has an amazing partner, Gregory who has been by her side every step of the way in this hearing healthcare journey and in the opening of Freedom Hearing Aid Center. Gregory’s big smile can often be seen in the office, talking with patients, hanging pictures, or doing most anything on Freda's "honey-do" list.

Freda has an awesome 10-year-old “bonus” son and 9 amazing grandchildren.

In her spare time, Freda enjoys reading, cooking and being with family. Her happy place is the beach with family and friends.

BUT her passion is her patients and bringing them the joy of better hearing.

Mary Cave joined Freedom Hearing Aid Center in January 2025 as the patient care coordinator. She was a former English teacher of 39 years and previously worked with Freda at her previous hearing aid office. In addition, Mary is an avid golfer and very active in the Greene County Community where she resides. She makes each patient feel at home and is committed to making their hearing healthcare journey a very successful one.

Our Comprehensive Hearing Evaluations are designed to give you a clear picture of your hearing health. Whether you're just starting out with a Pre-Hearing Aid Consultation, seeking guidance after receiving your device through a Post Hearing Aid Consultation, or exploring options during a Hearing Aid Consultation, we’re here to walk you through each step. We also offer Hearing Aid Exams to ensure your devices are functioning optimally and provide Counseling for Hearing Loss to help you navigate the emotional and practical aspects of hearing changes with confidence and support.
Hearing Aid Services: We believe hearing aids should enhance your life—not complicate it. That’s why we offer a Hearing Aid Trial Demo, giving you the chance to experience the benefits before making a commitment. If your device needs attention, our Hearing Aid Repair and Curbside Hearing Aid Repair services make it easy to get back to clear hearing quickly. For added peace of mind, we provide Loaner Hearing Instruments while yours are being serviced, and every device comes with a Hearing Aid Warranty. My Grandpa got his in-the-ear aids and they fit and work so great. Thank you Freda! My Grandpa is 90 yrs old and I don't think he does a very good job of charging them regularly, I think he falls asleep with them in his ears while he is watching tv, and he's getting pretty old and forgetful...but when I charge the aids for only 20min and have him put them in his ears, he can hear me well and I don't have to raise my voice! He has spent years not being able to hear and years not focused on conversation and he does fall into old habits....but that has nothing to do with Freda. Freda was able to run scientific tests and truly measure how much hearing he had to work with. My Grandpa had lost so much hearing for so long that he thought his only option was surgery. But Freda was able to provide two different hearing aid options for him and we only had to try one of them to find something that worked. It was a blessing to find Freda...thank you! To loving family members out there: it can be difficult to work with the elderly and help them navigate through new technology, but if you can dig in with patience, working through the challenges is so rewarding!

Freda is the best! My grandpa tried some inexpensive aids online and after a few years he got completely frustrated and wanted to jump to cochlear implants. Freda was able to take an ear test and show him that he has some hearing to work with and show us two options of hearing aids that might work for him: one in the ear and one over the ear. She doesn't just get you setup for hearing aids; she helps you maintain them over the years so they keep working for you. We are currently waiting on the molds for the in-ear aids, so I'll write an update as we move the process. Basically I'm just excited that we found a caring professional place that might work for my Grandpa. I feel as though this place might be really helpful to others as well.

What a gift .. for my brother Matthew who not only has Down Syndrome , but a recent terminal cancer diagnosis .. followed by hearing loss . When Freda heard his story , she wanted to help ! Matthew was a special sounding case to her and she thought of some refurbished hearing aids waiting for the perfect match. Matthew’s hearing loss was more profound than Freda expected ..and she wondered if she had the right match . We waited breathlessly to see… and they worked! He could hear ! FAQ

I’ve just been diagnosed with hearing loss. Do I need hearing aids?

It depends on your type and degree of hearing loss. The majority of patients suffer from sensorineural hearing loss, resulting in permanent damage to the inner ear. Fortunately, hearing aids can help most of these individuals communicate more effectively.

There are so many different types of hearing aids! Which style is best?

There is no single “best” style. You’ll have many options to choose from based on your individual listening needs. Factors to take into account include your type and degree of hearing loss, lifestyle needs, cosmetic preferences and budget. Your hearing care professional will help you select a hearing aid that will address your unique needs and desires.

1. Do I need two hearing aids?
2. Will using hearing aids restore my hearing?

1. Most patients have hearing loss in both ears that can benefit by amplification. Two hearing aids are best for natural hearing.
2. Hearing aids are only meant to be an aid and cannot restore hearing once it has been lost. Instead, they amplify sounds and speech signals for the purpose of aiding hearing, allowing you to communicate more effectively.

Is there anything else, other than (or in addition to) hearing aids, that can help me hear?

In certain situations, hearing aids may not be enough. Assistive listening devices (ALDs) can provide an added boost when background noise, distance and poor acoustics are factors. If you are profoundly deaf and conventional hearing aids do not help, you might be a candidate for cochlear implants or bone-anchored hearing aids. You can also ask your hearing care professional about aural rehabilitation and communication strategies that can be helpful for those with or without hearing aids.

Are hearing aids covered by insurance?

Some insurance policies include hearing aid coverage, but this varies by plan. Call your insurance company to verify whether you have a hearing aid benefit.
